Where do these thoughts come from? As far as most people are concerned, there is a large reservoir somewhere inside of our brains and nervous systems, churning or streaming out a barrage of thoughts over which we have no control, but there is nothing further from the truth.
We are actually the thinkers of our thoughts and subsequently, the masters of our own destinies. The concept seems simple enough, but it is in this sheer simplicity wherein lies the dilemma of entire human existence.
Ancient saints, sages, and wise men have all wrestled with this age-old philosophical question, that we possess free will and the freedom to think as we please, so where did we go wrong? The answer is far too complex and unfortunately, not within my scope of practice.
In my own journey of self-discovery, however, I have tried not to focus on the complexities, but rather, on simple techniques that were easy to implement, such as by making small, incremental changes daily through concentration and meditation. Small positive steps taken daily are self-perpetuating and will most certainly bring balance, harmony, and serenity into your life.
