The inextricable little voice in your head with which you identify causes your body to react negatively. Unfortunately, your body is unable to differentiate between whether a thought is vivid or if there is a situation where imminent danger is present.
The body reacts to every thought as if it was real and prepares you for fight or flight. This fight or flight mechanism was originally designed by nature to activateas a defense mechanism during times of impending danger and emergency. Mistaking your thoughts as real leads to a series of physiological events that cause an increase in your heart and pulse rates and blood pressure. Your muscles becomes tense and you begin sweating, as well. This further causes fear and anxiety and leads to dysfunction in your body, which is commonly referred to as stress.
Becoming a witness to your thoughts is not going to be easy, and you will be sure to encounter many struggles along your journey. Learning how to control your mind, rather than leting it control you, will probably be the single most difficult task you will ever encounter. However, this should not stop you from making a start, no matter how insignificant it appears to be initially.
